Introduction

This is Diana Wonder... she's going to be the Generation 1 torchholder.

After the tragic issues with my games (see here and here), I ditched the few pictures I'd had of her in her previous incarnation and  started over fresh. Since I haven't had much chance to check out Supernatural, I decided that it would make a great backdrop for my new and improved ISBI.

Diana is a fairy. (I don't know where her wings are... do they have to earn them? I should look that up.)

She is a young adult. The family is required by the rules to carry the insane trait, but I'm randomizing the rest. Diana's traits are: Insane, dramatic, friendly, loves outdoors, and nurturing.

Her LTW is Master of Mysticism.

Diana is an Aquarius who loves PB&J sandwiches, Pop Music, and the color Aqua.

She also seems to enjoy arguing with random pieces of meteor. Or maybe she's arguing with the people who live in the meteors. I think we'll call them the "suls".

Stay tuned, I actually played enough to get a few chapters out of it... No promises on any regularity of posting beyond that, though!

  1. Hee! We're all doing one. Come on in. The water's fine!

I was afraid when I saw your legacy title that you were doing something on the same theme as I am. Whew! I have enough for one post for Allison Wonderland, but I've been dealing with technical problems with the Samples AGAIN and haven't written it.

I love the dark pink skin with the lavender hair. Those should be some fun genetics to watch. OTOH, I'm pretty sure you don't have to earn your wings; I made the 11th Doctor Who into a fairy to drop into Moonlight Falls, and the wings were a tab on one of the appearance menus.

    1. Yeah, I saw the wings tab when I was making her, but it didn't give her wings. I might have to mess with that some more. I wonder what I did wrong!

Nope, not the same theme as yours! It wasn't until I was writing her name in the post that I realized that the names were similar... but since I knew that they were completely different, I didn't worry about it!

Poor Samples, though. Is it Avalon related or something else? I'm also very worried about my Hodgins. I'm ok with rebuilding their relationships, mostly Puzzle/Sebastian and Ariel/Blu, but I worry that it won't be the same...

      ISBIs all around!

    2. No, it seems to be a Mac thing, sadly. And a World Adventures thing perhaps. Basically, I sent Charles on vacation, since it had been a while. Then I realized he didn't have !@#$ Pangu's Axe, so as soon as he (and Veronica) earned enough from swag to pay for the trip, I sent them back home. They'd also picked up a stray cat who latched on to Charles. I haven't managed to adopt a stray properly (glitch?), so I just added it to the household with MasterController. All of that ought to be OK.

However, when they returned home, the game started crashing within a minute of play and in the middle of saving -- that's bad.

I can back up to a previous save and see if that's stable. It's possible it's the cat, but I'm reluctant to give it up because it was such a cute moment. What I'm actually doing is going back to my Windows 7 virtual machine and seeing if I can play there. I've never tried to do that seriously. I'm not sure what running Windows inside of OSX is going to do to my performance. However, I saw some forum griping that indicated that Seasons is seriously unstable on the Mac, so it's worth a try at least.

I'm starting to think I'm getting too old for all this. I spend way too much time troubleshooting.

So, what exactly is happening with the Hodginses?

    3. Oh, that all sounds like a pain in the plumbob! I hope they get to keep the cat. I know that the Mac general has more problems than PC, which is sad since Macs are so cool. I don't even try to run Sims on my little Mac anymore.

My Hodgins game won't load anymore. At all! It gets halfway through the loading bar and then errors out. I have no idea what to do with that. It's killing me.

    4. Other than the recurring custom hair rendering problem, which I finally figured out how to fix, and that one stupid thing with the game refusing to boot due to access failure to EA's servers after the Showtime release, I've had great luck playing on my Mac.

What error are you getting with the Hodginses? Is it a crash to desktop, or does an error pop up?

    5. It's an error to the desktop. It loads, loads, loads, stalls. Then I get a pop up that says it was unable to continue (or something, I'll have to recreate it and write it down!) and then *poof* desktop and "do you want to send an error report". But just for some games/files and not for others. I'm curious to see if this ISBI will load the next time I try.

My poor little Mac just wasn't strong enough to run Sims. :(

  2. Oh, and it looks like you have to turn the Captcha off for each blog individually :-p.

    1. Oh, man! Now I have to remember how to do that!

    2. I think you must have succeeded because I didn't get harassed when I posted that long gripe! :)

  3. I like Diana, she's really pretty :)Can't wait to read on here!
(And you guys make me think about re-doing my founder. Yours look so extraordinary and mine is..well...not really.)

    1. Awww, thanks... but all I really did was change her skin color and hair and point her ears, the rest was all game generated features! I did think that she was pretty, though, so I was happy that I didn't have to do much.

    2. I'm going to guess your founder looks great, Amhranai. Have you played the new character yet? I will say that there are some fabulous EA sims in the sim bin. I browsed through until I found a face that fit what I wanted, but there are some WAY more interesting faces in there.

  4. First post for the Wonderlands is up!

  5. I love reading ISBIs, but I don't like the lack of control so I couldn't do one myself! Fabulous start though and I can't wait to see what you do with Diana here :)

    1. It hasn't come up much yet, since it's only Diana in the household. But it is going to be very weird as more NPC Sims get involved and I have to not click them. It's kind of like the opposite of a wishacy!

  6. *It's kind of like the opposite of a wishacy!* You are so right, in totally opposite ways they are a control freak's nightmare.

Very nice start here, I don't have Supernatural so I'm enjoying it through everyone's blogs. I hope you can stick her wings on!

    1. I love Supernatural! I don't have WA or Seasons (or Uni), so I love seeing those in other peoples stories.

    2. I dig Seasons. It's well thought-out, and it's very pretty.

Uni is the first expansion I haven't felt much desire to get. It's interesting because a lot of folks on the forums I read are more excited about than a lot of previous ones. And I'm very cranky about it because I really want the roommate feature.

OTOH, for the first time ever, I pre-ordered Island Paradise because I wanted the pre-order gift. I have this desert island Nothing Is Free challenge in my head, which I don't know if I'll ever get to because I can barely handle two legacies, but the pre-order gift was perfect for that. Also, the expansion has scuba diving, which is just awesome.

    3. Island Paradise looks so pretty! I can totally see doing your Nothing Is Free challenge there. (Which you should totally do, because the more legacies the better right!?)

    4. The world that comes with Island Paradise is supposed to be a multi-island neighborhood, which sounds really interesting too. The pre-order gift is a bunch of stuff geared toward being stranded on a desert island. That and the Castaway sets on ModtheSims, and I would be beyond set for the first generation or two.

I don't know if I could handle blogging another legacy, and I can't handle the thought of doing another legacy and NOT blogging it. Argh! I am at least two sim-weeks ahead on the Samples because I haven't been able to collect my brain to post anything with all the other crap going on. And I'm even down a couple of posts on the Wonderlands. I should crank those out because they take almost no energy. But I'd kind of like the Nothing is Free challenge to be plotty.

      Delete
    5. That's exactly why I'm putting off my EPIC, even though I'm dying to start it! I want it to be good and plotty and get the attention that it deserves!

      Delete
    6. Yeah, I'm building a concept for this Nothing Is Free (NIF?) that I really like, but it will probably be Sample-grade plotty. And while I could sort of imagine taking on something else like an ISBI, another high-effort plot thing is just out.

OTOH, you're getting pretty close to the end of the Hodginses aren't you? Whoa is that a bittersweet thought.

    7. Wishacies are 7 generations and we're coming up on generation 5, so I'm more than halfway there... but generation 4 took almost a year! I need to move things along a little faster.

Much easier said than done when the characters are so important to me!
